WordLetterhead is built to touch as little of your data as possible. Here's exactly what happens, in plain terms.
Free preview (no payment)
Your uploaded file never leaves your device. Rendering the preview and building the watermarked .docx both happen entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
Paid download ($9)
To build the clean (unwatermarked) file, the rendered letterhead artwork — not your original file — is sent to our server, assembled into a .docx, and streamed back to you in the same request. It is processed in memory and is not written to a database, disk, or any storage bucket. We also send a hash of that artwork and your page/margin settings to Stripe as payment metadata, so we can verify the payment matches the file you're downloading — never the image itself.
Payment details
Card details are entered directly into Stripe's payment form and go straight to Stripe. They never touch our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy for how they handle payment data.
Error monitoring
We use Sentry to catch and diagnose crashes. Request bodies (including any uploaded artwork) are excluded from error reports on our server routes — Sentry only sees error messages, stack traces, and basic request metadata (URL, status code).
What we don't do
No accounts, no cookies for tracking, no analytics that identify you, no selling or sharing your data with third parties beyond Stripe (payment) and Sentry (error monitoring), both listed above.
